David Luíz is set to undergo surgery after he confirmed he broke his nose during Brazil's 2-1 Confederations Cup win against Mexico.
The Chelsea defender headed captain Thiago Silva in the first half while trying to clear a free-kick and had to be carried off on a stretcher.
Brazil sealed their semi-final berth with the Wednesday night victory and Luíz revealed his break will not sideline him for the rest of the tournament.
"Yes, my nose is broken, but that's part of the game," Luíz told Sambafoot. "Now I'll have to wait until the end of the competition and undergo a surgery to fix it."
Luíz will be fitted with a mask for the remainder of the tournament but could be rested for the final group game with fellow semi-finalists Italy.
His Chelsea teammate Fernando Torres donned a protective mask towards the end of the season after he broke his nose in a Europa League tie against Steaua Bucharest.
