Manchester United have rekindled their interest in Everton left-back Leighton Baines.
Baines could be one half of a United double deal for Everton players, with Marouane Fellaini expected to complete a move to Old Trafford before the Premier League season starts.
United had £12 million bids for Baines rejected last year and earlier this summer. Ironically, Baines' former manager David Moyes described United's offer in 2012 as "ridiculous".
United are long-term admirers of Baines
Baines, 28, is identified as an upgrade on 32-year-old Patrice Evra, whose form since the 2010 World Cup has been largely poor.
Evra enjoyed a mini resurgence last season, but that was primarily due to his knack for important goals, such as the winner against Arsenal and equaliser at home to Newcastle United.
The champions remain interested in Cesc Fàbregas, who has kept his counsel since United tabled two offers for him. The Spaniard will speak at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today, which could shed some light on his situation at Barcelona.
