The football transfer window slammed firmly shut at 11pm last night - but not before some of the biggest deals in Premier League history were made. Here's a snapshot of the most important signings.

Arsenal

Arsenal completed the signing of Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil in what is understood to be a club-record £43million move from Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old sealed the 50million euros transfer on Monday afternoon having undergone a medical in Munich, where he is on international duty.

Ozil admitted he is looking forward to working underneath the Frenchman at the Emirates after becoming the second most expensive player in Barclays Premier League history.

"I am thrilled to be joining a club of the stature of Arsenal and am looking forward to playing in the Premier League," he said.

Manchester United

In what was probably the most tense transfer of the night, Everton finally reached an agreement with Manchester United to reunite manager David Moyes and Marouane Fellaini.

United paid £27.5million to secure the services of the highly-rated Belgium international. Moyes was unsure about whether United would be forced to pay the sum stated in the clause, which is why he allowed it to lapse.

Spurs

Meanwhile, the story of the entire transfer window was Gareth Bale becoming the world's most expensive move after his move to Real Madrid.

The transfer is understood to be worth 100million euros (£85.3million), which would break the £80m Madrid paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

Gareth Bale was unveiled at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in front of Real Madrid fans.

Asked about the transfer fee and what pressure he felt, Bale said: "It's as much pressure as I put on myself. I wanted to come here and play the best football and I'm going to give 100 per cent and try to help the team to win things.

Liverpool

The Anfield club confirmed the signings of France defender Mamadou Sakho from Paris St Germain.

Sakho's arrival on deadline day follows the earlier arrival of Tiago Ilori.

"I'm delighted to be here," he told Liverpool's website. "I'd like to thank everyone for the welcome.

"I came here because the project that is in place at Liverpool interests me. I'm really looking forward to playing my first game."
