Messi was substituted during Barça's 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Tuesday night and Madrid sports daily AS suggested the Argentine was unhappy at being substituted.
"I didn't mean to make any gesture when I came off. I will not accept that certain media tell lies," Messi said after the game.
