Tether Car Reaches An Insane 205MPH (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'Toy Car' Does An Insane 205MPH

This is Tether Car Racing - and it's insane.

That two-foot long "toy car" is attached to a pole by a bit of wire and goes fast - really, really, really fast.

It peaks at 205mph. That's as fast as an Aston-Martin Vantage V12 S.

Although the video was originally posted in 2011, it has been given a shot of fresh interest after being featured on the Top Gear website.

Tether cars are an American phenomenon, originating in the 1920s. They run on specially built circular tracks 19.9m in diameter.

The cars themselves usually contain nitro or methanol fuelled internal combustion engines and old models are highly collectible, selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
