Michel Bastos, New Roma Signing, Sorry For Lazio Insult

Michel Bastos and Roma have apologised after he held up a scarf which read "Lazio s**t".

Bastos was paraded in front of Roma supporters before their Coppa Italia won over Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday night, having signed from United Arab Emirates club Al Ain.

The 30-year-old was thrown a scarf from the stands and posed for photos with it, but allegedly did not realise it featured an anti-Lazio slogan.

"Bastos held up a scarf thrown to him by the fans unaware of the message it displayed," Roma clarified in a tweet. "The club and Michel apologize for any offence caused."

Bastos can expect a white hot reception from Lazio fans when they face Roma in the derby on 9 February.
