Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has advised Rémy Cabella not to join Newcastle United because he will be "bored s**tless" in the city.
Cabella could become the 11th Frenchman at St James's Park if he makes the switch from the 2012 Ligue 1 champions, although Nicollin is not convinced he will enjoy himself.
Newcastle denied they agreed a £12 million deal earlier this week, but with Yohan Cabaye's future in doubt they could make a move for his compatriot.

The flamboyant Nicollin told RTL: "There is already one of ours there (Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa), and I hope he enjoys it. Rémy, I think, deserves something different than Newcastle.
"Personally, I wouldn't go there. You must get bored s***less in Newcastle."
Paris Saint-Germain France remain keen on Cabaye, who could leave for £26m.
