Arsenal could sign veteran Germany striker Miroslav Klose from Lazio before today's transfer deadline.

The Gunners, who are also close to bringing in Spartak Moscow's Swedish midfielder Kim Källström, have turned to 35-year-old Klose to offer them support up front.

With Theo Walcott out for the season and Nicklas Bendtner and Lukas Podolski two underwhelming options, Wenger is desperate to add a striker to his squad and ease the pressure on first-choice centre forward Olivier Giroud.

Klose, who has scored 14 goals in three World Cups for Germany, has struggled to distinguish himself at club level in Germany and has scored five goals in 16 games for Lazio this season.
