Tinder Flaw Meant User's Location Could Be Pinpointed To Few Hundred Feet

Tinder Was Giving Away Your Exact Location Last Year

Tinder - a brutal dating app, but one that removes the "do they, don't they" awkwardness of approaching people in real life while keeping people at enough of an arms length to thwart stalkers.

Or so we thought...

Turns out a flaw in the apps programming (its API) that allowed the pinpointing of a user's location down to a few hundred feet.

Here's how it works (basically through triangulating positions based on how far users are from each other).

The vulnerability could have been around since July of last year but thankfully it has now been fixed.

Phew. You may resume flirting.
