Olivia Colman And Jodie Whittaker Help 'Broadchurch' Lead Royal Television Society Award Nominations

Broadchurch Females Head To Head For Top Acting Award

‘Broadchurch’ co-stars Olivia Colman and Jodie Whittaker are set to go head-to-head for the Best Female Actor prize at the Royal Television Society Awards later this year.

However, the pair will have to fight off stiff competition from ‘My Mad Fat Diary’ actress Sharon Rooney if either of them are to take home the prize.

Jodie Whittaker and Olivia Colman are nominated in the same category for the RTS Awards.

ITV’s ‘Broadchurch’ is leading the way with four nods, including nominations for Best Serial Drama and Best Drama Writer.

Surprisingly, David Tennant, currently busy filming a US adaptation of the hit show, hasn't been nominated in the Best Male Actor, leaving Idris Elba, Stephen Dillane and Lennie James to battle it out for the award.

‘Emmerdale’, ‘Casualty’ and ‘Coronation Street’ are nominated for the Best Soap And Continuing Drama award while Sir David Attenborough, Davina McCall and Stephen Fry are all nominated for the Best Presenter accolade.

The RTS Awards will be hosted by comedian Tim Vine on 18 March at Grosvenor House, London.
