Marmalade sandwiches at the ready – Paddington Bear is about to hit the big screen, suitcase first.
Adapted from Michael Bond's classic book, Paddington follows the misadventures of a polite bear in a fetching duffle coat as he arrives at Paddington Station from darkest Peru.
Paddington has grown up deep in the Peruvian jungle with his Aunt Lucy who, inspired by a chance encounter with an English explorer, has raised her nephew to dream of an exciting life in London. When an earthquake destroys their home, Aunt Lucy decides to smuggle her young nephew on board a boat bound for England, in search of a better life.
Arriving alone at the station (anyone who has been there waiting a delayed First Great Western service to Cornwall will feel his pain), Paddington soon finds that city life is not all that he had imagined. Luckily the lovely Brown family find him and do exactly as his 'please look after this bear' note asks – they take him home and help him find the explorer who impressed Aunt Lucy all those years before.
The film has a stellar line-up, with Colin Firth voicing Paddington and Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julia Walters and Jim Broadbent in the supporting cast.
We're excited – possibly as excited as Paddington was before he realised how different London weather is to Peru – and we hope you are too!
Unfortunately we're going to have to wait until November 28 to see the movie, when it is released nationwide.
