‘Corrie’ fans can look forward to the return of a familiar face later this year, as it’s been revealed that Jim McDonald - played by actor Charlie Lawson - will be returning to the soap.
The tough character, famous for his turbulent family life and fiery temper, will return to ‘Coronation Street’ for a three-month period in July.

A show source told The Mirror: “Charlie was delighted to get the call to return to the soap. He still has lots of friends on the Street and will be back in June to film initially for around three months."
However, given that the last time we saw Jim he was being found guilty of armed robbery, we’re thinking it’s unlikely we’ll see him supping a pint over in the Rovers Return or nipping to the Kabin for a pick 'n' mix and a copy of ‘Hiya!’ magazine.
Instead, it's thought Jim’s new storyline will focus on his time behind bars, while his relationship with his wife Liz McDonald - who returned to the soap late last year and quickly reclaimed her rightful place as landlady of the Rovers Return - is also thought to be put to the test in the new story arc.
The source added: "If things go well he will be there until the end of the year and it could lead to more work.
“The character Jim is still very much in prison so the storyline won’t see him back on the Street itself, but that could lead to more work."
Jim exited ‘Corrie’ back in 2011, when he held up a building society so he could try and get enough money for Liz, played by soap veteran Beverley Callard, to buy the Rovers.
