There are few moments in life when you will feel quite so appreciated as when you return home to be greeted by a baby overcome with joy - just because you've walked through the door.
For babies nothing is more miraculous than the return of a parent who has been away, as this adorable compilation of home videos proves.
The video called Who's Home? Daddy's Home! was uploaded to YouTube last week by HooplaHa.com and has already amassed nearly 300,000 views, with people enraptured by the babies' squeals of delight and beaming grins.
The boys and girls featured in the clips can barely contain their excitement as they spot their fathers making their way towards them.
Some wave, some blow kisses and some make a speedy beeline for their dad, to hasten the moment when they'll be scooped up in his arms.
In a couple of the clips a baby is joined in his or her excitement by an over eager family dog. As one commenter jokes:
"Typical is the dog interposing himself between the baby and the arriving parents. 'No one gets hugs 'til I get petted!'"
As parents of older children will know, these unbridled displays of affection are worth cherishing. Before long the novelty of your return will wear off and you'll be lucky to get so much as a grunt for a greeting. If only we could remind teenagers that they once felt this way.
