Kerry Katona has given her first interview following the birth of her fifth child earlier this month, describing how she almost died while she was in labour.
It was reported over the weeked by the Daily Star that the Atomic Kitten singer suffered from pre-eclampsia while giving birth to her baby daughter, who she has named Dylan-Jorge Rose, and now the singer described the terrifying moment when she thought she might lose her newborn baby.
She told OK! magazine: “I screamed as the doctors tried to revive her.
“I was losing loads and loads of blood – the placenta burst and had to be manually removed.
“In a split second we went from tears of joy and holding our baby to chaos.”
After being discharged from hospital and allowed to return home with her baby daughter, Kerry took to her Twitter to thank fans for their support following the “traumatic” experience, and also publicly thanked her fiancé George Kay for standing by her and helping her through the ordeal.
He also opened up to OK! about the harrowing experience, stating: “In my lifetime I’ve seen some horrific things but the thought of losing your two most loved people at the same time… I was a mess.”
This is the couple’s first child together, though Kerry already has four children from her previous marriages to Mark Croft and Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
