Instead of hiring her on the spot as the next chemistry teacher, a school has suspended one of its students who made a damn clever periodic table joke in her yearbook.
Mundy’s Mill High School in Georgia, US, suspended senior class vice president Paris Gray after they finally figured out what her quote meant.
The 17-year-old wrote: " When the going gets tough, just remember to Barium, Carbon, Potassium, Thorium, Astatine, Arsenic, Sulfur, Uranium, Phosphorus."
Using the periodic table, the elements translate to [Ba][C][K] [Th][At] [As][S] [U][P]. Gray has been given an in-school suspension and have threatened her ability to attend graduation.
"My first reaction was, you are such a nerd," Gray's mother Zarinah Woods told WSBTV.
"Basically, it was me just saying start all over again," said Gray. "You have to go back and start all over."
We say: give the girl a pat on the back!
The school has since apologised for the incident, with the principal challenging the student to give the "best speech ever" at the commencement ceremony.
