One Direction have broken their silence on the joint video scandal that has engulfed them this week, with Liam Payne making a qualified apology on Twitter.
Liam tweeted to his nearly 17 million followers, "We are only in our 20's we all do stupid things at this age."
I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that.We are only in our 20's we all do stupid things at this age— Liam Payne (@Real_Liam_Payne) May 31, 2014
We all have a lot of growing up to do in an extreme circumstance I'm not making excuse but it's fact we are gunna fall short somewhere— Liam Payne (@Real_Liam_Payne) May 31, 2014

No word yet, though, from Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, the main culprits in the saga, after Louis filmed the pair of them smoking a joint in the car on the way to a gig in Peru.
The band took to the stage in Manchester last night, making no further references to the saga. Earlier in the week, Liam had said on stage, "No more media attention please."
