A Texas woman is set to give birth on Monday to her third set of fraternal twins at the age of 26. Chanel Thibodeaux is already a mother of six.
"This time I was like, 'Are you serious?'" Chanel told KXAN news in Austin about seeing the ultrasound for the first time. "At first it was a joke, and I looked and there are really two babies in there."
Chanel had her first set of twins, a boy and a girl, when she was 16. Then five years later, she welcomed her second set of twins – this time both boys. She had one child, now aged eight, between the twins and another after the second set of twins, who's aged one.
Luckily, Chanel will get help from her new husband Que and her mother Pamela Jones when the twins arrive. Her eldest twins, Breon and Breyanna, who are now 10 years old, will also help when they can.
"I [already] have to do a lot of stuff. It makes it harder because I got to do more stuff," said her son Breon.
Chanel's mother, Pamela Jones, calls her daughter's fertility "a blessing."
She said: "There's people who can't have children, and she can't stop! It's amazing. I'm happy.
The proud grandmother was given the honour of naming Thibodeaux's newest additions to the family. The twins, both girls, will be named Lauryn and Londyn. They are expected to be delivered via C-section.
When asked about what her next year looks like, Thibodeaux said, "I'm pulling out my hair!" Not only is Thibodeaux a full-time mother, but she is also studying a degree in forensics science at the University of Texas.
