When Dean Verbeck was planning to propose to girlfriend Linzi Richards, he had one wingman in mind - his baby son, Blake.
Dean, 37, who runs a theatre and stage school in Swansea, bought a babygrow for three-month-old Blake with the words 'Mummy, will you marry Daddy?' printed on the front. He asked Linzi to change the little boy's nappy - and the rest is history!
"Linzi and I have been together for five years. I'd been thinking about proposing for a while, and then Linzi mentioned a friend who had been proposed to using printed baby gear," Dean told Parentdish.
"I did my 'pretending not to listen' routine, but I knew she'd love it if I organised something similar.
"I sorted the printed romper and collected it for a New Year's Eve proposal. We were going to a party that evening, so Linzi had a nail appointment booked for that afternoon - this was perfect as I knew she would want photos of her hand with the ring.
"She arrived back home with my mum in tow, who was coming to babysit. Mum knew about the proposal, but was planning on coming around much later after I had done it – then Linzi decided to save time and collect her on the way home.
"So mum hid in the kitchen (!) and I asked Linzi to change Blake's nappy.
She went into autopilot, changing him quickly, and didn't even notice the babygrow at first! After a few tears, stunned silence, and more tears, I finally got a yes.
"I put the photo on Facebook and then it was picked up by a local paper in Wales. The next thing I knew we'd been in the Sun and Metro!"
So what are the plans for actually getting hitched?
"The wedding will probably be in 2016, so we have lots of time to plan," says groom-to-be Dean. "Luckily we've already got a page boy lined up so there's one less thing to sort!
Congratulations Dean, Linzi and baby Blake!
