Bermuda shorts are about as stylish as it gets, and this summer trend is perfect if you're after an easy-to-wear item that works with just about anything.
First of all, forget that hideous visual of floral-bermuda-short-wearing guys in Crocs and polo shirts - this is not the look coming into season.
Bermudas have had a sleek, minimal update and on the catwalk, Marc Jacobs' models wore bright brocade styles teamed with matchy jackets and slip-on ponyskin plimsoles.
Alexander Wang's Spring/Summer 2014 collection showcased high-waisted, tailored looks with oversized pockets while Paul & Joe did slouchy linen styles in block colours.
Still need convincing? Here are three reasons to add Bermudas to your summer wardrobe...
1.The pockets
Ok, it might sound a bit boring but these shorts are seriously practical. Also, pockets are high fashion this season making them functional and statement-making. Fact.
2. The length
There's no chance of an accidental butt cheek reveal (thank God) and they look good with both heels and flats. In short, a pair of these babies work in the office, in the bar and slouching around on weekends. And as far as colour ways go? Invest in classic navy, black, white or grey if you're playing it safe but if you like your wardrobe to be a bit more lively, mix in every motif/ slogan going.
3. The comfort
Yes, good old-fashioned comfort. It's a valid reason - have you ever tried to have a good time in short shorts? It's basically impossible. Whether you opt for linen, denim, silk or laser-cut leather, Bermudas feel so good to wear you'll wonder why you ever put yourself through hot pants. And bodycons.
