Kooky, mannish and OTT - ugly flat shoes are one of Spring/Summer 2014's biggest catwalk trends and Billie Piper knows it.
The 31-year-old Brit singer and actress was spotted out wining and dining at London's Groucho Club with her husband Laurence Fox on Thursday night sporting a pair of white buckle strap Birkenstocks.
YES, that German heritage footwear brand with all those androgynous, unsexy stereotypes and yes they were of the slider/slip on variety. The thing is, Billie (like every trendster on the scene right now) makes them look tres cool.
Billie teamed her Birkenstocks with grey spray-on effect jeans (also a thing right now. Note: NEVER say jeggings) and a pale grey wool-mix peacoat. There's just something about Billie's style that is relentlessly cool - this dressed down date night style is pretty low key and yet she still looks smart.
The mid-length down do is classic "I woke up like this" bedhead - but that's her thing and it works. As do the Birkenstocks - so get involved if you're partial to a classic, mega comfortable sole.
As for husband Laurence Fox? He also kept his look casual in a grey button-down coat, black jeans and military style high tops.
