If you're prone to feeling low or sluggish at the start of the day, drinking an energy-boosting smoothie might be just what you need for an early morning pick-me-up.

The experts at Neal's Yard recommend making their 'restore and recharge' recipe for breakfast, as the ingredients release slowly throughout the day. It's made with almond milk (good for the reproductive system), rolled oats (high in vitamin B and minerals for vitality) and cinnamon powder (to warm and energise) plus a few teaspoons of superfoods to support the immune system.

Here's how to make it at home...

You will need (to make two smoothies):

600ml almond milk

2 bananas

45g rolled oats

45g quinoa flakes

Half to one teaspoon cinnamon powder

2 teaspoons per person organic beauty oil

1-2 teaspoons per person agave syrup

1. Soak the oats and quinoa in the almond milk for 10 minutes.

2. Pop all the ingredients into a food blender.

3. Blend until a smooth consistency, adding a little water if you prefer it thinner.
