Cate Blanchett not only won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in Blue Jasmine, but she also took the crown for the most expensive outfit at the Academy Awards!
Okay, we know celebs like to splash the cash when it comes to dresses for red carpet events. But when we found out Cate's dress and jewellery cost a massive $18.1 million, we were a little speechless.
According to Vogue, Cate's Armani dress cost around $100,000 and it was her jewellery - all of which was on loan - pushed the value of the outfit up.
The Mail Onlinereports that the Cate's Chopard earrings, brown diamond bracelet and pear-shaped diamond ring were worth mega bucks! The earrings alone had 62 opals set in white gold! Wowsers.
Matthew McConaughey was also wearing Chopard when he picked up his gong for Best Actor.
Charlize Theron was also wearing a very expensive outfit at the Oscars - worth $16million and giving her the title of second most expensive ensemble. Again it was the $15million worth of Harry Winston jewels which did it.
