Drew Barrymore's half-sister Jessica Barrymore has died aged 47. Reports say she was found dead in her car in National City, California early on Tuesday morning.
Jessica's body was allegedly found next to "dozens of white pills" with an energy drink in-between her legs.
Although the identity has not yet been released, a police officer has confirmed to US magazine People that a female body was found behind the wheel of a car in National City on Tuesday.
"She wasn't moving and was unresponsive, and the officers confirmed she was deceased," lieutenant Robert Rounds told People.
The cause of death hasn't been confirmed and a full autopsy is yet to be scheduled.
Drew and her sister had the same father John Barrymore and attended the same performing arts school in San Diego. However, the Hollywood star has made it clear that she wasn't close to her sibling.
"Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible, and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss," Drew said in a statement given to People on Wednesday.
Jessica's last Facebook message was a post from Mystera Magazine. It read:
"Life doesn't always introduce you to the people you want to meet.
"Sometimes, life puts you in touch with the people you need to meet to Help You, to Hurt You, to Guide You, to Leave You, to Love You, and to gradually Strengthen You into the Person You Were Meant to Become."
