After three years of marriage Hilary Duff and her hockey player husband Mike Comrie have announced plans to separate.
Following in the lead of fellow former celeb couple Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr (who announced their split in October 2013), the pair are keen to emphasise their break-up is entirely amicable.
Hilary's rep issued a statement to People saying: "Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided [upon] an amicable separation.
"They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."
The couple wed in August 2010 and welcomed son Luca in March 2012.
Hilary has tweeted thanking her fans for their support, saying "Mike and I are sitting here,we are so appreciative for all of your kindness & well wishes. Not an easy day but we're getting thru it together." [sic]
While the couple are sparing us a divorce bomb - sticking to the word "separation" for now - it's clear it might be on the horizon. But, it's great to see a celeb couple who continue to support each other and are insistent on remaining great friends in the wake of a break-up.
