Is Kate Expecting A Boy? Duchess Of Cambridge Buys Blue Bugaboo

The ruling that first born girls can become first in line to the throne has been rushed through, and bookies have slashed the odds on the Royal baby being a girl called Alexandra.

But the Duchess of Cambridge has thrown a spanner in the she's-having-a-girl works by buying a top-notch pram in BLUE!

Kate - who is due to give birth in July - revealed she has bought a Bugaboo Cameleon in light blue while mingling at a recent reception with army wives.

A source said: "She and some of the other girls were talking about prams and one of the girls had her baby in a Bugaboo. Kate said she has bought one in light blue. It was a bit of a hint."

Bugaboos are the celebrity buggy of choice - with everyone from Sienna Miller to Peaches Geldof and Myleene Klass pounding the pavement with the pram. A Bugaboo costs between £500 and £1,000, and can be used as a pram from birth or as buggy for an older baby.

Kate has been stocking up on baby gear as her summer due date approaches. She was spotted buying a pricey Moses basket from a swanky High Street Kensington store at the weekend.

The Duchess's buggy buying comes as a new survey reveals the cost of designer baby gear.

According to a survey by The NPD Group, new parents spend an average of £1,100 per baby on gear which excludes feeding equipment, food and clothing.

A fifth of new parents' overall baby budget goes on a pushchair or pram, with Silver Cross and Bugaboo some of the most popular models on which to splash the cash.
