On Thursday however the 25-year-old singer was clearly feeling in the mood to cover up and arrived at the HQ of Facebook (for a live chat with fans) in an outfit that showed off zero skin, but more than nodded to the styling of the late, great Michael Jackson.
Sharp toed boots, tight black trousers and a tomato red cropped leather jacket - is it ringing any distant bells? It's classic Beat It style if ever we've seen it.
