Kate Middleton, The Duchess Of Cambridge, Has Made Her Engagement Ring Soar In Value

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has made her beautiful blue sapphire engagement ring soar in value to £300,000. This is pretty impressive considering that it was worth £28,000 back in 1981 when it belonged to Prince William's mother, Princess Diana.

That's TEN times the value and has ranked the ring first in a list of the world's top 20 most famous engagement rings compiled by jewellery expert Vashi Dominguez, which reveals just how much each sparkler has appreciated since purchase.

The Queen's engagement ring (three-carat diamond solitaire surrounded by five smaller diamonds) is second on the list and has increased in value from £10,000 to £100,000 since Prince Philip presented her with it in 1947.

The second most expensive, however, is the Duchess of Cornwall's Art Deco ring now estimated to be worth a modest £250,000 despite being £100,000 at the time of her wedding to Prince Charles.

Michelle Obama's ring came third on the list which is now valued at £20,000 which is way up on the £7,500 it cost in 1991.

We could literally talk engagement rings ALL day but when it comes to breathtakingly beautiful bling - Kate's reigns high every time. There's just something about the 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon blue sapphire and set in white gold that says AMAZING.

"It's Kate's quiet confidence to lead as a style icon that makes the ring so special" says Vashi Dominguez. And you know what? We totally agree.
