The BalenciagaAutumn/Winter 2014 catwalk show during Paris Fashion Week was all about boxy, cocoon silhouettes. We're talking shift dresses and jackets with OTT zip detailing, fur-trimmed outerwear and gauzy knitwear.
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen sauntered down the runway (her last Paris runway cameo was way back in September 2012) and, as for the FRow, think none other than THE Kanye West.
Hats off, Alexander Wang has done it again. This collection was sleek, streamline and gave the sports-luxe trend an Autumnal update.
Block stripe crochet knit dresses were teamed with high-shine duffle coats, ankle boots and biker-girl gloves. Hair was middle parted and scraped back, no muss no fuss style.
The tweed/textured cocoon coats were sharp with asymmetric detailing, belted at waist and paired with patent thigh high boots or glitter-lined, go-faster trousers. The Balenciaga woman is a woman on a mission and next season she's totally owning it.
Colourways: grey, blue, purple, khaki green and black were pieced with contrasting mustard yellow, orange and pink. The look was warm and opulent but Wang's attention to detail made this all for ladies mixing in the ultra-modern. With a serious thing for straight-talking fashion.
