Celine's Autumn/Winter 2014 catwalk during Paris Fashion Week proved that sophisticated, stunning outerwear is all a woman needs to make a huge impact during colder climes.
The collection of coats were classic, tailored, button-down and shin-length but with a contemporary attention to detail that is signature Phoebe Philo. So fresh is this creative director that her minimalist line up drew the likes of Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and that Yeezus man himself, Kanye West (in double denim), to the FRow.
The Celine woman is sleek with a definitive edge - the fleet of models had slicked back updos, wore one statement earring and Dr Martin inspired patent sandals and wedges.
Texture play was seen throughout and the vibe was smart but not too showy. High-waisted trousers, gingham shirts, asymmetric skirts, tweed knits, jumper dresses and embellished two-pieces are a few staples to consider investing in next season.
Oh but the coats. Think statement styles from leopard print to camel trench with fleece belt, cocoon throw-ons with fringe detailing and beautiful double-breasted masterpieces in monochrome.
