Police say they are growing 'increasingly concerned' for the safety of two teenage girls who went missing in East London on Friday night.

They have launched an appeal to help find friends Shadia Browne, 15, and Franchesca Nti, 14, who were last seen in the Leyton area.

The girls are described as black and are both approximately 5ft 6ins tall. It is not known what they might be wearing.

The teenagers are known to frequent the Hackney area, also in East London.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Missing Persons Unit at Waltham Forest on 020 3276 0989/0927 or call 101.

The search follows news of the disappearance of a university student in York who went missing after a night out with friends.

Megan Roberts, 20, was only reported missing to police at 8.30am today when a friend raised concerns that she had not seen her after a night out in York city centre on Thursday.

The York St John University student, from Wetherby, North Yorkshire, was last seen at 2am after a night out last Wednesday in the city's Popworld night club.
