Royal Ascot 2014: Fashion From Ladies' Day

Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot is arguably the most stylish event in the racing calendar and the guests this year did not disappoint.

The dresses and millinery have been pretty exceptional all week and most racegoers have sensibly kept to the Royal Ascot style guide (although this celebrity let the side down on day two.)

Katherine Jenkins was just one of the stars who looked incredible on Ladies' Day in this turquoise shift dress complete with a matching pillbox hat and nude patent heels. The metallic waist-belt? We love this flashy bit of customising.

As for the headwear, the "more is more" rule was applied more than ever this year, but the most stylish ladies avoided anything too kooky and made the most of their dress and footwear choices.

This extravagant applique rose design was one of our favourites from day three. The blush shade and the petal fascinator detailing looked statement-making and elegant - more proof that a low-key shift dress and minimal accessories are key when wearing a hat.

As for the royals? Princess Anne and Princess Beatrice brightened things up with their headgear...
