A young father who is dying of cancer can now buy his wife and children a home after a £10,000 donation from X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne.
Felix Glenny, 23, was admitted to hospital with severe stomach cramps on November 11, where doctors diagnosed him with bowel cancer.
On Saturday, when tests revealed he had just weeks to live, the father-of-two married his girlfriend Cola Weller, 22, as he lay in Medway Maritime Hospital, Kent, with the couple's two children, Ralph, two, and Pearl, four months, watching alongside friends and family.
Cola said: "Felix just said he wanted to get married as soon as we could.
"It was a really amazing day, I had a lot of fun. It was crazy because we were really happy, but it was so emotional."
Now, in an unexpected turn of events, he will also be able to buy his family a house after receiving a call from Sharon Osbourne's PA saying the star wanted to send the family a cheque for £10,000.
The gift, combined with money raised by his best friend, brings their donations to a total of £40,000.
Cola, from Kent, told the Mail: "Sharon Osbourne's PA emailed Ashley and then they called him to say the amount Sharon wanted to put down wouldn't go on the site.
"There must be a limit to how much someone can donate. She wanted to send a £10,000 cheque after she had seen the news story.
"We gave her Ashley's address but she also asked for the hospital's address so you never know, maybe we'll get a visit.
"She donated it because she had cancer before and so the story meant something to her - it had touched her personally.
"They have already sent the cheque out and he wants is to go towards somewhere for us to live.
"All he wanted to know when all this was happening was if the kids were going to be alright once he'd gone.
"He just wanted to know we had some money for the future and were sorted.
"It has really put my mind at rest because I know I can look after my children now and I know this is what he wanted.
"I'm so grateful to everyone that's donated, it's made a real difference to our lives and our future. To get a donation from Sharon Osbourne herself is incredible.
"It's a huge amount and it really will change our lives. "I honestly can't believe the level of kindness both friends and strangers have shown."
