When we heard Lady Gaga was going to open the VMAs, we knew we were in for some seriously weird and wonderful looks.
But we certainly didn't expect anything like this from Mother Monster.
There were endless amazing Gaga moments during last night's awards, but our absolute fave came when she ran into One Direction while she was wearing her shell bikini. Does it get any better than this?

Back in 2010 we were gobsmacked when Gaga donned that infamous meat dress, and while there was no ham on display this year - there was still some pretty amazing outfits (and wigs)!
The Applause singer arrived on the red carpet wearing a black Prabal Gurung dress, which is actually quite reserved for Gaga, especially considering the whole shell bikini thing.
