Beth Whaanga - a cancer survivor from Brisbane, Australia - has launched a project called Under The Red Dress, and it's truly inspiring.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer on her 32nd birthday, the nurse went through a double mastectomy, hysterectomy, navel and breast reconstruction surgery.
But rather than hide her scars, Whaanga has bared them in a series of revealing photographs taken by her friend Nadia Masot to raise awareness of the disease.
The pictures are harrowing to look at but will probably have a greater impact than any amount of words on the subject would.
Whaanga has been criticised on social media for the imagery but intends to continue with the project and is looking for other women who have survived breast cancer to photograph.
