My Apartment: Katie Eary

Adored by the fashion cognoscenti and fashion fans alike for her bold designs, recent collection for River Island and work with Kanye West on his clothing line, Katie Eary is one to watch at the fore of exciting and playful British menswear design. Her new Stepney Green home, decorated with vivid artwork, unique ornaments and splashes of colour, wholly reflects Eary's designs and idiosyncratic style.

How would you describe your interior style?

Minimal weirdness.

Is there correlation between your interior style and your designs?

Yes, it's so obvious who lives in this house... There are areas of mad colour, plastic animals everywhere, but executed as cleanly and concisely as possible.

Where are your favourite places to shop for your home?

The Conran shop. It's deadly... I try to avoid that store these days. It's a drain on my finances. I also love Abigail Ahern and Heals.

What do you love and hate about living in your area?

I love that it's sort of hidden away from the madness of Whitechapel, but it's on the edge of all the buzz. It's five minutes walk from the canal, so if I'm having a terrible day I'm five minutes from getting away from it all! I think the only thing I dislike around here is that there are no decent places to get a good fry up...

Your office is now on the top floor of your home. How do you relax at the end of the day?

I love to plug in Jambox, have something like radio 90s blaring away and have a bath. I then like to watch omnibuses of whatever is top of the pops at the moment. I'm loving The Honourable Woman.

What's the most impressive interior you've ever visited?

Palace of Versailles.

Can you describe your dream home? Where do you see yourself living in 10 years' time?

My dream home would be the little cottage in the film The Holiday - you know the one! I'd like that, but with a pool for the summer too... I see myself living in either London or NYC. Let's see... Only 4 years ago I was living in Hackney Wick, my room was made of breeze blocks, and I had no windows.
