With the holiday season fast approaching, it will soon be time to turn your guest bedroom from an excess storage space into lovely, cosy bedroom for family and friends.
You want your guest room to feel comfortable and enticing to houseguests, which means getting rid of any clutter that may be in there (especially if the room is doubling as a laundry room, attic or office).
Relocate any clothing in wardrobes and drawers to another room - or better yet, use this as an opportunity to clear out anything that hasn't seen the light of day for several years - and make sure to remove (or file, finally!) any stacks of paperwork.
The key to an inviting guest bedroom? A sumptuous-looking bed. Be sure to have fresh sheets and pillowcases on the bed and give the space hotel-room appeal by popping pillows in the dryer on a low heat for a few minutes (do the same with sheets to freshen them up and get rid of any dust). You may also want to invest in a mattress protector if you've a got a family with kids piling in.
Layer up the bed with plenty of pillows, cushions and an extra throw or blanket - not only does this make the bed look cosy and keep guests warm in the colder autumn months, it's also a great way to add colour, texture and pattern to the space. And don't forget the fresh towels!
After you've give the room a quick dusting and hoovering and aired it out by opening windows, you can get to the good stuff: adding little touches to make your guest feel special. Fresh flowers by the bed, a tray for their personal items and a funky art print all bring a welcoming touch to your room and show your guests that you've made the effort and are looking forward to their arrival.
