When it comes to Christmas decorations, there's more to it than hanging a few fairy lights around your tree.
"Give your home a magical feel in every room this festive season with a palette of soft greys and winter whites – then add some sparkle with glass and shimmering silver," says Marks & Spencer home editor Jo Caulkett.
Jo's top tip? Have fun with metallics. "Offset traditional decor with a few quirky, modern objects for a scheme that's full of character," she says.
No where is it easier to do this than in the dining room. From cut-glass candle holders and snowflake plates to dainty tealights and baubles, shimmering decorative touches can make all the difference to your Christmas dinner table.
They'll brighten things up, too. "Top a sideboard with glass and metallics, then add tealights to show off the sparkle," suggests Jo.
This luxe festive theme can work equally well in the bedroom.
"Layer up soft linen and sumptuous textures to create a luxurious sleeping space, whether you're having guests to stay or want your own relaxing sanctuary," Jo advises.
Invest in warm knitted throws and blankets as well as fragrance diffusers and candles to add a touch of indulgence or try mixing white bed linen with soft greys for a clean, calm retreat to see you through the winter months.
Who ever said Christmas decorations had to be tacky?
