Chestnut Houmous Recipe

Chestnut houmous by

Serve with homemade cheese straws, or spread on crusty bread and savoury biscuits. It is also good with vegetable crudities such as carrot and cucumber sticks. You can put this Christmas houmous into clean jars and tie it with ribbon to make a lovely homemade gift.

250g roasted chestnuts (pre-roasted in pack or roast your own)
125mls tahini
1 clove garlic
125mls water
Juice of 1 lemon
5 sage leaves
60mls extra virgin olive oil

1. Blitz the chestnuts in a food processor until they form a fine powder, then add all the other ingredients and blitz until smooth. Add additional water to thin the houmous if desired.

2. This makes a very smooth
houmous, if you would prefer a little more texture blitz the chestnuts at the same time as everything else, leaving some chestnut pieces through the houmous. This will give your little ones an interesting texture to explore, however they may prefer a smoother, slightly thinner paste.
