Prince George has posed for his first official Christmas photo shoot – and doesn't he look smart.

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge shared three festive photos they took of their rosy-cheeked son giggling on a stone staircase at Kensington Palace.

Dressed in a smart knitted tank top emblazoned with Coldstream Guards, and with his hair neatly parted, gorgeous George sat happily in the palace courtyard as his a photographer snapped away.

They are the first official pictures of George since his first birthday in July.

According to an aide, the pictures were taken by one of the couple's staff members, who happens to be a former professional photographer.

George is dressed uber traditionally in in a white collared shirt and a navy woollen tank top featuring an appropriate guardsman design with navy shorts and knee high socks. The jumper is believed to be from Cath Kidston – and cost £20. The young Prince's outfit is completed by Griotte corduroy shorts from Amaia Kids (£36), socks from Amaia Kids (£7) and his favourite navy Early Days shoes (£29).

The Coldstream Guards traditionally wear the red tunic and bearskin for public duties like Changing of The Guard or occasions of state.

George, with William and Kate, both 32, will spend Christmas Day with the royal family at Sandringham, where they're expected to attend the church service at St Mary Magdalene Church.

Next year, George will have a little brother or sister to share Christmas with.

Bookies are hotly favouring that second royal baby due in April will be a girl and have tipped the Duke and Duchess to name her Charlotte.
