While more than 2 million viewers have ditched the ITV drama, rival show ‘Silent Witness’ continues to pull in viewers, piping ‘Broadchurch’ to the post in the ratings battle, with 5.7 million people watching the latest episode.

The new series of ‘Broadchurch’ has seen Danny’s killer go on trial after pleading not guilty, and bosses are promising plenty of twists and revelations as the series continues.

“Chris [Chibnall, writer] set up a lot of things we never even thought about in the first series and now they’ve come to the fore,” Olivia Colman previously revealed. “At the read-through we were going, ‘You sneaky b*****d’.”

The court drama has been criticised by a number of fans, who have pointed out inaccuracies in the way the proceedings are developing.

While smaller issues such as the judge wearing the wrong wig can probably be overlooked, viewers have questioned why a number of the witnesses have been allowed to sit in public gallery ahead of giving their statements.
