Er, so we can definitely file this under 'Weirdest News of the Day': David Cameron has revealed he's related to Kim Kardashian. Umm, David, please explain...
The PM revealed the information during a televised interview with Heat's Lucie Cave.
When she asked him if he watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians, David replied, "No, but I'm related to them. Did you know I'm 13th cousins with them?"
Which, we bet, she probably didn't.
The link is via a mutual ancestor, Sir William Spencer, born in 1555, according to genealogy website geni.com, reports the Daily Telegraph
So will David be organising a family reuinion anytime soon? According to Hello! magazine, apparently not. But he wouldn't mind. When asked the question, he laughed and replied, "No, I have no plans at the moment", but added, "That would be great."
Already reality TV royalty, Kim might be quite pleased to hear she's also related to a Prime Minister.
The Daily Mail reports that Kim is not the only famous distant cousin of Mr Cameron's. He's also, apparently, a fifth cousin of the Queen. That's right, the HRH.
David is descended from King William IV, who fathered a number of illegitimate children with mistress Dorethea Jordan.
The paper adds that one of them was David's great-great-great-great-grandmother, meaning Mr Cameron is a fifth cousin of the Queen. who knew?
