The style on the red carpet at this year's Olivier Awards was elegant and sophisticated.
Three of the top looks from the night, which celebrated excellence in the theatre world at London's Royal Opera House, were worn by Gillian Anderson, Nicole Scherzinger and Gemma Arterton, who all opted for chic black dresses.
Gillian Anderson looked stunning in a strapless dress with a sheer skirt. The star oozed a Hollywood vibe with polished curled hair and flawless makeup, and was joined on the red carpet by her 20-year-old daughter Piper.
She was nominated for her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Young Vic, but didn't take the gong home.
But no matter, when you're wearing amazing sapphire earnings like that, nothing can bring you down right?
Nicole added edge to her peplum fishtail frock with a chunky-funky gold black belt and bright red lips. She wore her highlighted locks in an updo and worked super-fluttery lashes, too.
The star was nominated for best supporting actress in a musical for her role as Grizabella in Cats, and also performed 'Memory' from the hit show at the bash.
But she lost out on the gong, with the nod going to Angela Lansbury for Blithe Spirit at Gielgud Theatre.
Another lady looking lovely in black was Gemma Arterton, who was nominated for best actress for her role as factory worker Rita O'Grady in West End show Made In Dagenham.
She might not have picked up the accolade, but she looked every inch a winner in her slinky DSquared2 column dress, which had a rather plunging neckline and a pretty latticed back.
Gemma wore her hair in a chignon, and enhanced her look with a 90s-inspired thick gold choker.
Other stars who wowed at the event included Downton Abbey's Laura Carmichael and Pixie Lott, who both, incidentally, also wore black.
