A video of a mother punishing her 13-year-old daughter for having a secret Facebook account has taken the internet by storm.
Val Starks, of Denver, Colorado, posted the clip online after finding her young daughter's profile which claimed she was 19 and showed her posing shirtless.
Several grown men has asked to be her friend on the social networking site so the girl's mother decided to publicly shame her as a deterrent to others.
"I just told her how disappointed I was in her and there's no reason for her to want that kind of attention," Starks told ABC.
The stern parent then offered her daughter the chance of "a spanking" or public humiliation.
"She said she'd rather have a whoopin', so I chose the latter," Starks said.
When people of Facebook criticised her parenting methods, she said: "It was coming from a place of love."
"Anybody could have coerced her into meeting her in a park, and she would have thought it was a 13-year-old boy but it could have been a grown man who wants to do bodily harm - and the coroners could have been coming to my house. I would rather embarrass her and done this than to go to a morgue and verify my child's body.".
