Monday night’s ‘EastEnders’ saw new arrival Paul Coker pucker up to Ben Mitchell, but not everyone was pleased by the storyline.
A number of ‘EastEnders’ viewers took to Twitter to complain about the snog, and moan about the storyline.
I'm no prude, nor anti-gay but I think eastenders was a bit out of order with the kiss scene, especially considering the broadcast time.— Si (@aletales_) June 2, 2015
Ew. Cringing watching Ben and Paul kiss in Eastenders. Just a tad bit full on 😣😣😣— arlene lamond (@arlenelamond) June 1, 2015
@bbceastenders eastenders please stop showing these disgusting scenes,im a long term viewer but scenes like this will put off your audience— Faze (@EriPrince95) June 1, 2015
Thankfully, more than a few Twitter users saw sense, and slammed the homophobic tweets:

People actually complaining about 2 gays kissing before 9?? But it's more than okay for straight people to kiss. Pathetic lmao #EastEnders— EastEnders (@EastEnders_UK) June 1, 2015
Christ, all the homophobes having a hissy fit over a gay kiss on #EastEnders... seriously, grow up!— Kilo Alpha Tango (@KatAdams83) June 1, 2015
I hate that gay kiss for one reason: it wasn't long enough #Eastenders— Jemma (@Jemmabondc) June 2, 2015
Ben was previously openly gay, however, he’s now in a relationship with Abi Branning.
Many fans of the show already knew that Ben and Paul were set to lock lips, as the scene was featured in the soap’s summer trailer revealed last month.
Elsewhere in the Square, there’s also been drama for Shabnam and Kush, and their engagement isn’t exactly going smoothly.
Will they make it up the aisle? Your guess is as good as ours…
