Leanne has had her fair share of woes in the past few weeks, having just lost her fiancé, Kal Nazir, in a fire that also took the life of ‘Corrie’ resident Maddie Heath.
Following this, the character has also been involved in a controversial storyline rotating around domestic abuse, when she was physically assaulted by her teenage stepson, Simon Barlow.
It has now been reported that Leanne - played by long-standing ‘Corrie’ actress, Jane Danson - will be kidnapped by newcomer Dan Jones, an abusive former client from her days as a sex worker, who blackmails her to stay quiet about how she knows him.
An insider told The Sun: “This will be yet another horrific ordeal for Leanne, following Kal’s death.
“She knows from past experience what Dan is capable of, so when he traps her, she fears the worst.”
The incident, due to air later this year, is said to land both Leanne and Simon in “serious danger”.
It was reported earlier this year that former ‘The Bill’ actor Andrew Paul was heading to the cobbles to play Dan, a potential love interest for Liz McDonald.
However, when Leanne recognises Dan at first glance, he intercepts before she has the chance to warn Liz about where she knows him from, and the physical violence he used to subject her to.
