Tribute To Boy Murdered In Cemetery

The family of a 14-year-old who was murdered in a "savage and brutal attack" have paid tribute to their son who lived by the motto "you only live once".

"Caring" Jordan Watson of Ridley Road, Carlisle, was discovered in the grounds of St John's Church cemetery in the city on Tuesday. The Liverpool FC fan's body was found by a member of the public at 7.46am.

In paying tribute to him, his family said Jordan would "never walk alone".

The family said: "Jordan wasn't perfect, he was though the most loving and caring child that anyone could meet.

"He had the best sense of humour. Jordan's favourite expression was 'YOLO' – you only live once. Jordan lived by this motto, he had a strong personality and a love of the outdoors. Jordan could not be talked out of doing something he really wanted to do.

"Jordan was very loyal, he stuck up for his brothers and sisters, he was scared of nothing.

"Jordan adored his girlfriend Justine and they spent many happy times together. Jordan loved Liverpool Football Club and like his favourite team, he will never walk alone.

"Jordan, you will always be in our thoughts and prayers, fly high baby angel. Sleep tight, to us you will always be perfect. Love you always, our sleeping angel."

A post-mortem examination revealed the teenager died from multiple wounds to the head and neck caused by a sharp implement.

Police are continuing to appeal for information in to Jordan's death.

An 18-year-old man from Carlisle was arrested yesterday morning, but police are still seeking information from the public as officers from across the county continue to investigate.

Detective Superintendent Andy Slattery said: "The arrest is only one line of enquiry and we are urging anybody with information to still come forward and let us know.

"Did you see Jordan on the night of June 15th or early on June 16th? Did you see or hear anything suspicious, or notice someone acting out of character or who had signs that they may have been in a fight?"

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and ask to speak to an officer from North Cumbria CID.
