A man has been charged over the murder of a pensioner in south Wales, police have said.
Detectives were called to a home in Tonteg, Pencoed, near Bridgend, on Saturday evening, before saying that a 67-year-old woman had died.
South Wales Police today said the man they had arrested was 43-year-old Mark Lewis Stephens.
The dead woman has been named as Rita Stephens.
A police spokesman said Stephens had been charged with murder as well as making threats to kill.
Detective Chief Inspector Kath Pritchard said: "This incident has brought shock and sadness to the local community, who I would like to thank for their support since this tragic incident.
"The family of Rita Stephens are being supported by specially trained liaison officers in the meantime."
