Police have arrested a man on suspicion of child neglect following reports that a person tried to sell a baby in a shopping arcade.
A member of the public said they were approached by a man with a three-month-old baby boy in a pram at Manchester's Barton Arcade at 2.30pm today.
The man reportedly offered to sell the baby to him.
Police said the boy is safe and well and a 28-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of child neglect.
Detective Inspector Liam Boden said: "We would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance in publicising the appeal earlier today. We have now arrested a man on suspicion of child neglect and will be questioning him in relation to the incident as we try to establish the full circumstances."
