Schizophrenic Michael Meanza Arrested After Woman Found Dead At Hostel

A schizophrenic resident of a hostel for vulnerable people has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman, believed to be member of staff at the home, police said.

Michael Meanza, 47, was arrested by officers in Ealing, West London, this afternoon after Scotland Yard issued an appeal to find him.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was discovered injured at the hostel in Perryn Road, Acton, shortly after 6.30am.

She is believed to have worked at the hostel, which is understood to be a supported living service for vulnerable people, Scotland Yard said.

London Ambulance Service attended the incident and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Scotland Yard said: "Michael Meanza was arrested this afternoon, Monday, 27 July in the Ealing area. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time."

Next of kin have been informed of the death but formal identification has yet to take place.

A post-mortem examination will happen in due course, police said.
