Hot temperatures and sunshine will warm England again this weekend after days of miserable weather, the Met Office said.
Westerly winds and high pressure from Thursday will bring temperatures in line with normal levels for this time of year - reaching 29C in some parts of the country.
Temperatures will rise sharply after frosty conditions and overnight temperatures as low as 4C or 5C in the West Country at the end of this week.
London and the South East could see highs just shy of 30C on Sunday, while the rest of the UK basks in the mid-20s.
Temperatures across the UK will be in the twenties, with Glasgow predicted to reach 22C.
But the good weather won't last for long as unsettled conditions are forecast to move in from the west later on Sunday.
A Met Office spokeswoman said: "There is potential for a low pressure system to move to the north of the UK and that could bring with it some wet and unsettled weather. Could be quite windy or rainy in Scotland."
There could be a north/south divide in August weather.
The Met Office outlook for the month states: "There are signals for a continuation of a north-south spilt in the weather during the middle of August. The North is likely to see the most frequent spells of wind and rain, with the best of the drier and more settled conditions in the South, although some outbreaks of rain are likely to reach here at times.
"Temperatures on the whole will be near or a little below average for the time of year, especially in the North, although in any settled spells of weather in the South temperatures may become rather warm at times."
